Hi all:
For this blog comment, first read the materials by Huther in the reader and online; (note the use of a semi-colon here to join to sentences that might otherwise stand alone) then please select a quotation from the reading (we started doing this in class yesterday), paste it into the comment box, and then write a short paragraph about why you think this quotation important.
While this reading is a bit dense, as Maira said, it gets clearer and picks up steam as it goes along. I think it has interesting material for a possible paper one.
Oh, please remember you entry might not immediately appear when you post it. For some reason, my program is asking me to OK your comments before they are posted.

Hi all:
The rough draft of paper 1 is due this Wednesday, and the paper itself is due this Friday. Now is the time to get started.
Write the first two paragraphs of your paper 1. This may change of course. But now is the time to get started.
Also do the reading "The Sentient Interpretation of Biological
Evolution," from The Empathic Civilization, 69-79 in Reader.
Happy writing and see you Monday.

Hi all:
By this point you will have read "Life in Two Dimensions" and "Being Nobody" from Greenfield's ID:The Quest for Identity in the 21st Century.
As with previous comments, please locate a quotation from either of these readings, type or paste it into the comment box, and write a paragraph or so explaining why you think this quotation important.
Thanks.

Hi all:
When you have completed your deep reading of "Is Google Making Us Stupid" and "The Juggler's Brain," write a two paragraph response to what you have read with the general title "What Do I Think (about what Carr has to say).

Hi all:
Start paper 2, at least a page.
Try not to summarize what you are thinking about, but pretend to actually start the paper.
Bring hard copy of the page to class.
Remember this paper need be only on the articles by Carr, "Is Google Making Us Stupid" and "The Juggler's Brain." You could reference also if you wish the Utube video of Carr we watched in class.
What is he saying and what do you think he is saying?
In a way your paper will constitute an exploration of your "deep reading" of Carr.

Hi guys:
Do ONE of the following:
1. To the best of your ability and in your own words (in a paragraph or so) summarize Power's argument about being connected and being disconnected.
Or:
2. Explain what Powers means by a deep experience and give an example of it from your own experience.
That should get us rolling.
Nick
Hi all:
Start your paper 3. Write at least two paragraphs and bring hard copy to class.
You might want to keep in mind as you read and write one of those questions we formulated in class yesterday.
The most basic question was: According to Powers, what are the effects of the new digital technologies (cell phones, the web) upon the quality of our lives (for good and/or bad)?
Thanks...
Nick
