Blog Entry 10: Plot Summary of TS.

I didn’t see the first half of the movie, but this is as much as I can gather:

Truman is the “star” in a TV show; “The Truman Show”. The director of the show, Christof, aired the show from the moment Truman was born. The company had adopted Truman, and cameras have been rolling 24 hours a day for 30 years.

Truman doesn’t know he is being recorded and watched by millions, and everyone in his life is a paid actor. His relationships with everyone, from his parents, wife, neighbors, and coworkers, are all superficial. He’s been discouraged to explore or go beyond his home island, because in reality his world is contained within a dome to separates him from the real world.

While many people are fascinated by the show, there are those that disagree with it. Attempts have been made to foil the show, and Truman begins to notice suspicious details of his world. Everything escalated when Truman managed to trick the cameras and escape away from view. Christof immediately put on a search mission to look for him, and the cameras finally found him “at sea” sailing a boat. After endearing dangerous man-made thunderstorms and vicious waves that Christof commanded (for even the weather in Truman’s world was fake), Truman finally arrived at the dome’s wall—the border between what he knows and the truth.

The Truman show is a reality television show starring Truman Burbank , a man who was purchased as an infant by a television company. The twist is that his life is the television show. It is broadcasted 24hours a day and everyone is his life knows it is a show except for him. His mother, father, best friend and wife are not who they deem to be. His relationships are purposely constructed as well as everything else in his life. At the age of 30 he is slowly beginning to question his surrounding. While questioning the world he lives in, he begins to act out against his usual habits to figure out what is going on. He is testing everyone around him and by putting the clues together he finally figures out that he is being watched. The film ends with Truman finally escaping the Island he's been living in all his life by overcoming his biggest fear, water.

The Truman Show is a movie about a man named Truman Burbank who unknowingly is the star character in a popular TV show by the name of “The Truman Show”. He has no idea that his hometown is just a TV studio and that everyone he runs into, even his friends and family, are just actors with scripted roles. There are hidden cameras everywhere and millions of people have been watching every single one of Truman’s moves since he was born. The creator of the show is a man named Christof and he essentially controls Truman’s life. For example, Christof actually made Truman afraid of water by supposedly killing Truman’s father during a fishing trip when Truman was a child.
While in college, Truman falls in love with one of the extras named Sylvia. However, he marries a woman named Meryl, instead, because that was the plan. Before Sylvia is taken off the show, she actually warns Truman about what is going on, so he often finds himself thinking about her.
One day, things stop making sense to Truman; and, he gets the feeling that something is wrong. First, one of the artificial star lights falls from the sky, but it is quickly covered up. Then, his car radio starts picking up signals that are detailing his moves. Also, Truman starts noticing that people are on a “loop”. They do the same thing over and over again. He also runs into his father, but it’s not long before he is taken away.
Truman tries to get away, but he is always confronted with obstacle after obstacle. First, he was unable to book a flight. Then, his bus broke down. There was also sudden traffic, a forest fire, and a nuclear meltdown. Meryl, who elevates Truman’s suspicions by presenting seemingly random product placements, is taken off the show and Truman is left to think that she just left him. Christof brings back Truman’s father to make Truman feel better, but it doesn’t really help.
Then one day, Truman escapes through a secret tunnel, which leadsChristof to stop the broadcasting of the show. He orders all the crew members and actors to search for Truman. At this point, Truman has overcome his fear of water and he is sailing away from the town. Christof puts the show back on air and demands a storm as an attempt to capsize the boat. He gets into an argument with other people over the implications of killing Truman. A man exclaims, “We can’t just let him die in front of a live audience”. And, Christof replies with “He was born in front of a live audience”. Eventually, Christof stops the storm.
Then, Truman’s boat pierces the artificial sky and he eventually discovers a flight of stairs. Through the loud speakers, Christof tries to persuade Truman to stay. Up to this point, there are plenty of things that Christof has said that alluded to him being almost like God. At one point, he even “cue[s] the sun”. Now, he informs Truman that he is “the creator…of a television show”. However, Truman’s search for truth leads him to say “In case I don’t see you: good afternoon, good evening, and good night.” So, Truman leaves and is apparently reunited with Sylvia.

The Truman Show was about a boy named Truman, who grew up in front of millions of people. He lived on a tv set where he did the exact same things everyday for a long time. He had the perfect life. Except he lost his dad when he was eight in a boat accident. This caused him to be afraid of water. He went to college, he had his best friend by his side, and he found his wife, Meryl. They had a perfect life together and everything became routine. Except one day he saw his dad dressed as a homeless man. At this time his dad has been "dead" for 22 years. This is when Truman starts to question things about his life and explore. He starts having flashbacks about a woman he met in college. Her name was Sylvia and for Truman it was love at first sight. They went on a date in college and she was taken away by a man that was supposedly her dad and he said they were moving to Fiji. So he wanted to find her.Truman started noticing little things about where he lived. He noticed the guy with the flowers, woman on the red bike, and car with the dented fender circle the block. Then Truman tried getting away and couldn't. He tried taking a flight to Figi but they were all booked. So he tried taking a bus but it broke down. Then he tried driving and there was traffic, a bridge over water, a forest fire from no where, and then the power plant had a spill so all these obstacles were in his way. The police man told Truman he couldn't go through so Truman said okay and the police officer said, "Thank you Truman," and he snapped. Truman ran out of the car and tried escaping but the people stopped him and he had to go home. At home his wife advertises hot chocolate and he doesn't understand what she is doing so he goes to see Marlon. Marlon is his best friend. Marlon tells Truman that nothing is fake and that everything they have ever had is real. Marlon reunites Truman with his father so he doesn't suspect anything. The next day Truman acts as if everything is normal again. That isn't the truth though. Truman tricks the TV crew and finds a way to escape. He escapes on his boat because he isn't afraid anymore because he knows everything was a lie. The creator spots him and turns the weather system on to one of the most violent storms ever. Truman survives and hits the end of the set. The creator talks to Truman through the sky as if he is God. The creator tells Truman he belongs with him on the TV set. The last thing he says to the Creator, Cristof, is, "Just in case I don't see you, Good Afternoon, Good Evening, and Good Night". Everyone watching cheers and Sylvia runs to go find Truman. So the movie ended with Truman becoming a True Man.

Truman's entire like has been televised. So everything that happens to him is planned. Everyone he knows is an actor. His whole like is a lie. When he was a kid, his father got lost at sea while the two were on a boat. This has left Truman with psychological scars. For example, he is afraid to go on boats and drive over bridges. When he was in high school he fell in love with a girl, who tried to tell him the truth about his life. She was taken away but the experience has made Truman suspicious about his entire life. This suspcion reaches it peak and Truman begins to break free of his "life" which causes the actors and everyone controlling his life to panic. Truman comes close to leaving Sea Havan, but many obstacles come in his way. He is brought back home where he has a nervous break down and scares his "wife." After this, Truman acts as though nothing is wrong. He goes back to his normal routine. We then find out that Truman was the first baby to be adopted by a corporation. The Truman Show is the most popular show on television and people have been watching Truman since he was a fetus. When cameras are unable to find Truman, the director - Kristof - and the crew begin to panic until they find Truman sailing away at sea. In an attempt to stop him, Kristof creates a great hurricane to kill Truman. Truman, however, survives and makes it to the end of the dome that is Sea Havan. Kristof talks to Truman from the sky in an attempt to keep Truman in Sea Havan. Truman, however, does not stay and walks through the door to the real world. The viewers are over joyed that Truman has discovered the truth and Silvia - the girl who Truman fell in love with and attempted to tell Truman the truth runs out of her home to greet Truman.

At the very beginning of the film,we meet a man by the name of Truman Burbank.He is an extremely ''nice'' person who seems to be happy all the time.What Truman doesn't know is that throughout his entire life,he has been watched and recorded by a producer by the name of Christoff,who intends to make his life a living nightmare.However,he also wishes to make Truman's life as realistic as possible so he would never think about leaving.Truman first begins to notice something suspicious when he finds a camera that falls from the sky.After that moment,he begins to notice that his entire life is just a never ending cycle that consists of the same exact routine on a daily basis.He tries to escape his current lifestyle in Seahaven and find happiness in an island called Fiji.There,Truman hopes to find his true love,Sylvia,and at the same time plans to live a completely new life.He notices that everyone around him plays a part in his life,which makes him feel like he's in a movie.Towards the end,Truman figures out Christoff's scheme, and decides to get away from all his troubles.Christoff does everything in his power to prevent him from escaping,but to no avail.At the very end,Truman is able to free himself from his current lifestyle and prepares himself to live a completely new life.

Truman is victim of a set up world, trapped and executed from reality. Forbided from finding his true self and accomplishing what he really wants in life. For many years he was stuck in the same routine, everything was planned. From his so called parents to his bestfriend and the girl he married. Under twenty-four survelliance and being seen by the world like in a reality t.v show. All his decisions practically being set up for him to follow. With a direction behind it in an almost godly figure controlling daylight, night time, and his life. Truman was built as a chaacter of a "reality t.v show" you would call it. However for eceryone else in his surroundings they are on the t.v show as actors. In contrast he was lead to believeing it was all real. He is a true person out to the real worl. A friendly guy to his neighbors, an office job, and married to what you would call an american housewife. With a bestfriend and a true love story before he decided to marry Meryl. The perso who gave him a sense of curiousity to be more attentive of his surroundings and what he was a victim of was Lauren. That in fact was her character name being that her real name was Silvia. She gives him the encouragement to leave Seahaven to go and look for her. But she actually gave him more that that she helped him free himself. Once he discovered that it was all an act, he goes to sea where no one expected him to be since he feared the water because his "dad" died at sea. When they discover he is at sea they try to do all possible to cause fear upon him so he could return to shore. Even though the director tried his hardest, there was nothing he could do to prevent from him discovering the truth. When he hits the wall of the so called "ocean" the director gives in. Trying to convince him he is protecting him from the real world. Thinking he will fall victim to stay behind, but he still decides that life isn't for him no matter how "perfectly" set up it was for him.

The Truman Show is basically a show about advertising, but instead of using unrealistic characters and plots, they've (the company) have adopted a child,Truman Burbank, and are letting him grow up in a completely controlled environment. Everything that happens to him or around him, is scripted. The only thing is he doesn't know it. Every moment of his life has been captured on film and viewed by millions of people. The audience was there for the "death" of his father, when he fell in love with Sylvia, when he married Meryl, and for his everyday life. He and his best friend are very close, Truman is always talking to Marlon about flying to Fiji. Soon after this Truman begins to notice that everyone around him is always doing the same things over and over again. He finally realizes that the show is being scripted around him. Even though he still doesn't know it's a show. He tries to catch a plane to Figi in order to escape, but the airlines are booked for a month, so he goes to the bus station but the bus breaks down, he then decides he'll drive out of town, ans low and behold as soon as he gets out of town, another thing stops him. He eventually learns about the show and gets to decide whether he wants to stay, or if he wants to leave, and he decides to leave.

There is a man named Truman Burbank. One day, a spotlight falls from the sky with the word “serious” on it, but Truman doesn’t know what to make of it so he goes to work. The next day, he sees his “father” and when Truman recognizes him, people hurry and take Kirk away. Truman goes to tell his mother but she just reassures him that his father died during the storm. At home, Truman remembers a girl, Lauren, which he really liked but he wasn’t “meant” to be with her. When she revealed to him that it was all fake, a man in a car, said to be her father, took her away. The next day, as he’s driving to work, his radio picks up a conversation the crew is having and explains everything Truman is doing. He then tries to go in an elevator and sees that there’s no back wall to the elevator and there’s people behind it. Truman tells his best friend how strange things are happening. Back at home, Truman’s mother and wife, Meryl, are looking at wedding pictures and Truman notices his wife is crossing her fingers. Truman begins to do spontaneous things to see other people’s reactions. He shows his wife that the same people pass through the same place over and over again. Truman, with Meryl in the car, drives off attempting to escape the island. As he makes Meryl drive over a bridge, catastrophes begin to happen. There’s a forest fire, but Truman drives through it. There’s a gas leak, but Truman gets off the car and tries to run. When people catch him, they knock him out and take him “home.” The next day, Truman is the same person as the beginning. He’s not paranoid or anything. The audience then finds out through an interview with the director that Truman has been living on a TV set his whole life. The director, Christof, made a perfect world for Truman and has 5,000 cameras in Seahaven so “The Truman Show” is on air 24 hours of the day. A few days, weeks, maybe months, later, Truman tricks the crew and leaves an audio of snoring. The “town” goes out looking for him and when it’s “daylight,” the crew finds Truman on a sailboat going away from Seahaven. After a storm, he continues sailing until he hits the limit. Truman finds out that he is literally trapped. He then sees stairs and the director stops him and says, “There’s no more truth out there than here.” Truman decides to leave and Lauren, or Sylvia, is seen running somewhere. The audience can only guess that the two will meet.

“The Truman Show” is about a T.V. show based on a 30 year old man named Truman Burbank whose whole existence has been controlled by a company called Omnicam. As a fetus in his mother’s womb, he was already on live television. Every single memory of his life on Seahaven Island was created by Omnicam’s director Christof along with technicians and actors. Even his so called father’s, Kirk’s, death on sea was entirely fake so that Truman can have a deathly fear of water, thus never leaving the island. His treasured best friend Merlon, his wife Meryl and his parents were all paid for their role. Truman’s relationships were shallow. Sadly, everything on this show is for advertisement including the coffee, the houses and the clothes. Truman has gone through his whole life in oblivion until one day, he saw a piece of lighting equipment from the show’s set fall from the sky. Then, as he drove and listened to the radio, Truman noticed that these people were stating exactly his own route to work. From that day on, he became suspicious and knew something was off. Therefore, he decided to observe his surroundings. In one scene, he sat in his car and realized that every single day at that same time, a lady with a red bike, followed by a man with flowers and lastly a white buggy, would cross his neighborhood continuously. He also noticed that his wife did not love him since in the wedding photo, she crossed her fingers. At this point, Truman knew that he had to leave this place and search for truth. And to him, Fiji Island was the place to go since it also houses his true love, Sylvia, ever since she tried to tell Truman about his fake world. However, planes were booked, trains were broken and driving only resulted in “beautifully synchronized traffic.” Therefore, Truman set off to sail to Fiji, overcoming his lifelong fear. Although the technicians in charge of weather under Omnicam controlled the sun, the moon and the ocean to try to stop Truman and trample on his determination, Truman did not give up. He eventually hit a solid backdrop which was supposed to be the sky and spotted a staircase out of the show world. Christof made an attempt to persuade Truman by saying that the world out there is not any more true than the world he made for Truman, Truman decided to open the door where Sylvia is seen rushing out of her room to greet him.

Truman Burbank is an insurance agent in the island city of Seahaven. His life has, since birth, been the subject of The Truman Show. Truman has lived his life in a massive dome housing the Seahaven set. He has been manipulated to be afraid of the water, so he doesn't leave, and his entire life is filled with ads and actors. Eventually Truman realizes that there is something wrong with his life and attempts to escape. He is forced to stay, but his resolve increases and he sneaks away to sea. The show's creators terrorize him with weather, but eventually he reaches the edge. Christof confronts him, presenting his case, but Truman leaves, with audiences worldwide applauding him.

the truman show is a tv show about the life of truman burbank. truman burbank is your typical american man. he has a wife, maryl, a house in a beautiful neighborhood, and a good job, an insurance agent.everyday, he wakes up and get ready, eats breakfast with his wife, goes to work, hangs out with his best friend,merlon, and then returns home. sometimes, in this island where truman lives, Seahaven, strange things occur but they are always disguised. one day while truman was heading to work, the radio in his car began to pick up another signal. truman began to hear a man that was describing all of truman's actions. this is the first time that truman really started to actually see what was going on. instead of going to work truman interrupted his routine and began to do do bizarre things. truman saw that weird things started to occur, people were not reacting to things he would do. after this sense. truman now is aware of what is actually happening in the island. he sees that there are people that pass his street every ten minutes. he then tries to leave seahaven but obstacles are put in front of him that does not let him leave. after this, it is seen that truman is actually in a tv show called "the truman show". the production of the truman show is shown and also the director, christof. now, everything that was once thought to be an ordinary life of a person is actually a fake life. truman is a star and he doesn't know it. everyone around him, his family, even his best friend are all actors. truman already suspects that there is something wrong going on, so he tries to escape. he actually does escape from the cameras. the production goes crazy and searches for him all over the island. they finally find him on a sail boat in the ocean. this is kind of hard to believe due to the fact that truman was made to be scared of the water by making his "dad" drown in the water. when production sees truman in the boat, they try to make him fall of the boat but it doesnt work, truman keeps going and now the production is not able to do anything to stop him. the boat that truman is on hits the a wall. this is when christof speaks to truman on the microphone and tell him all the truth. truman finds an exit door, when truman hears all the truth he bows and leaves.
